Build Your Own Office Lunch Menu: How the Custom Plan Works (and Costs)
12 September 2026
Every office has one person who can't stand daal on Tuesdays, one who wants biryani twice a week, and one who says "just let us choose". For years the answer from caterers was "this is the menu". Ours is a page on the website where you build the menu yourself — and pay the same per-head rate as the fixed plan.
This is the guide to the custom plan builder: how it works, the four rules that keep it fair, and how to build a week your whole team will actually eat.
How it works, in one minute
- Pick a tier — Economy (Rs. 250), Silver (Rs. 300) or Gold (Rs. 350) per head per day. Same prices as the fixed plans on the meal plans page.
- Choose a dish for every weekday, Monday to Friday, from six groups: chicken mains, chicken rice, rice and pulao, beef/egg/other mains, vegetables, and daal and lobia — 70-odd dishes in total.
- Send it to us on WhatsApp straight from the page. We confirm, schedule the start, and that becomes your weekly menu.
No app to install, no account, no form that asks for a budget first. Five minutes, honestly.
The four rules — and why they exist
1. Your tier unlocks dishes
Economy picks from Economy dishes. Silver picks from Silver and Economy. Gold picks from everything. Moving up a tier never takes a dish away — it only adds richer ones (white karahi, haleem, kofta, makhni, jalfrezi and so on).
2. The weekly chicken quota
This is the whole point of the tiers, so it's worth understanding. Chicken is the expensive ingredient; the tier decides how much of it your week contains:
- Economy: 1 chicken main + 1 chicken rice per week, the rest vegetables, daal and other mains.
- Silver: 2 chicken mains + 1 chicken rice per week.
- Gold: 3 chicken mains + 1 chicken rice per week.
The builder counts for you and stops you at the quota — so a Rs. 250 plan can't quietly become a Rs. 350 plan, and nobody has to argue about it later.
3. No dish twice in the same week
Biryani Monday and biryani Friday sounds great in a meeting and gets boring by week three. One appearance per dish per week keeps the menu honest; if your team truly wants two biryani days, ask us and we'll talk about it.
4. Teams of 20 or more
A custom menu means a separate cooking line in the kitchen. It's worth it from about twenty people; below that, the fixed rotations are the better deal and you can still request swaps.
Same price as the fixed plan — really
A custom week costs exactly what the fixed plan costs: Rs. 250, 300 or 350 per head per serving day. No "customisation fee", no minimum contract, billing on actual serving days only. The quota is what makes this possible — it keeps the ingredient cost of a custom week the same as the rotation's.
How to build a week people will eat
- Put chicken where morale is lowest. Monday and Thursday, usually. Save the chicken rice for Friday — biryani or pulao before the weekend is a small tradition worth keeping.
- Mix textures. A rice day, a gravy day, a dry day (kabab, bhujia), a daal day. Five gravies in a row taste like one long week.
- Ask the team once, decide once. A two-minute poll beats a month of complaints. Then lock it for four weeks and review — a menu that changes weekly never gets a fair trial.
- Keep the vegetarians in mind. Every tier includes vegetable and daal days; if your team has strict vegetarians, tell us and we'll make sure their portions are separate.
- Use the fixed rotation as a starting point. Copy the Silver or Gold week you like from the meal plans page, then change the two days people grumble about.
Custom plan vs fixed rotation — which one?
Fixed rotation if you want variety without decisions: four weeks, no repeats, we handle it, swaps on request. Custom plan if your team has clear favourites, dietary patterns, or a culture of "we decide". Both come from the same kitchen, the same morning, at the same price — and both start with a free sample lunch.
Questions offices ask
Can we change the custom menu later? Yes — a week's notice, no charge. We recommend reviewing every four weeks rather than weekly.
Can we mix tiers, like Gold on Friday only? Not inside one plan; the quota is per tier. But two groups in one office can run two plans — say, Silver for one floor and Gold for the leadership lunch.
Do we still get the thali accompaniments? Silver and Gold, yes — each meal comes with the accompaniments that suit the day's dish, custom or not.
What if we're 12 people? Take a fixed plan and ask for swaps; when you grow past twenty, switch to custom. We'll tell you honestly which makes sense.
